Summer Doldrums-Surreal News-Truth-Podcasting In A Dream World-Podcast 726

These days it feels like we’re in the Summer Doldrums though Summer doesn’t start until June 21st. Find out why podcasters struggle with political and social commentary in today’s news flow in Summer Doldrums-Surreal News-Truth-Podcasting In A Dream World-Podcast 726.

Dream World

I call it the ‘News-Flow’. The dream world where stories flip flop almost hourly.

News Story Flip Flops

We’re having a trade war. Then we’re not. North Korea is going to make a nuclear deal. News is the deal is off. Now suddenly it’s back. Robert Mueller’s investigation will soon yield explosive results! The FBI planted a mole in the Trump campaign. Roseanne’s new comedy is a hit! Oops. It’s been cancelled. We’ll talk about it in Summer Doldrums-Surreal News-Truth-Podcasting In A Dream World-Podcast 726.

Awash In Commentary and Outrage

Moreover every screaming headline comes with analysis and commentary, predictions and counter commentary from all quarters. They’re only to happy to tell us why everyone else is right or wrong.

Is It Real? Or Is it Social Media?

Especially relevant is the feeling that all of this nonsense is building to a serious crisis. Are we all going crazy? Maybe it’s the Ambien. Or maybe the antidepressants. The full moon anyone?

Journalism or Propaganda?

What’s more advancing story lines is not journalism, it’s propaganda. Do the executives, reporters, producers and presenters understand this? Seems like all they want to do is keep people watching and clicking.

Easier To Talk About Roseanne Than The War In Syria

In conclusion maybe it is easier to talk about Roseanne’s latest fiasco, or how the Press Secretary yelled at a reporter than it is to actually cover the war in Syria. Maybe its cheaper to talk about Hollywood’s latest scandal than it is to explain why gas prices are skyrocketing.

What If?

What if all their story lines are wrong? One podcaster’s thoughts on a moonlit night at the beginning of summer.

Ending Personal Finance Delusions-Road To Recovery-Todd Rooker-Podcast 719

These days there’s a great deal of positive talk about ‘the economy’. Moreover, the focus is on government and big companies. Not a lot of realistic talk about our ‘personal economy’. We’ll talk about it in Ending Personal Finance Delusions-Road To Recovery-Todd Rooker-Podcast 719.

Unvarnished Observations Of Someone Who Knows

In Ending Personal Finance Delusions-Road To Recovery-Todd Rooker-Podcast 719 we hear the unvarnished observations of an experienced corporate and personal financial advisor.

Forget Wall Street. How Is Our Personal Economy?

What are the pitfalls for small business owners? How are families and individuals doing when it comes to personal finance? How is our personal economy these days?

Living The Dream. I Mean Delusion

When it comes to day to day financial management, it’s especially relevant to learn it’s pretty easy to live in a delusion, apparently. That goes for personal finance and business finance. Especially small businesses. This is just one of the key takeaways from our talk about why small businesses fail.

Spartan Lifestyle

To be sure financial advisors love to talk about retirement and living your dreams and passions. Thing is, living the dream requires a spartan lifestyle. When you’re living high on the hog, spartan is not something you want to do. So, business owners sometimes find it easier to avoid accounting for all expenses.

Todd Rooker’s observations are important for younger adults and small businesses. One of the most useful is a detailed explanation of how to account for all spending. I was surprised to learn some of the most knowledgeable and self aware see only what they want to see, when it comes to expenses. Delusions. There’s that word again!

Psychology 101. Our Own Worst Enemy

Human psychology determines what we’ll admit when we start totaling up the monthly budgets. Effective planning means short circuiting our own biases.

Following Our Passion

People want to follow their passion. How do you do that? Why doesn’t it always work out? Lots of great suggestions in Ending Personal Finance Delusions-Road To Recovery-Todd Rooker-Podcast 719 along these lines.

Day To Day

Truth is, most people are living day to day. Businesses started to serve a passion can fail. The root cause may be a surprise. Most noteworthy, is the idea it may be all about accounting for all the details and potential pitfalls when you first start out.

How do we plan and prevail?

Surviving and prospering is what it’s all about!

ADHD-Solitude-Technology-Yoga Therapy In Modern World-Podcast 718

Facebook. Twitter. Snap Chat. Social gatherings. These days it seems like we’re around people all the time. Suddenly solitude has become a ‘thing’. We’ll talk it in ADHD-Solitude-Technology-Yoga Therapy In Modern World-Podcast 718

ADHD Is The Culprit?

Moreover I’m starting to hear a lot of talk about Attention Deficit Disorder. ADHD is the culprit in almost every analysis of what’s wrong with the world. To be sure there are places where smartphones aren’t kosher. On the other hand maybe we can put the judgments on hold.

Yoga Eases The Pressure Of Modern Life

Most noteworthy is Yoga’s role in easing the pressures of modern life. I call these podcasts ‘Always A Student‘ because I am not a teacher. Naming my yoga podcasts this way also keeps me humble. They are designed to share my life experience as well as my experiences as a yoga student. Learn more in ADHD-Solitude-Technology-Yoga Therapy In Modern World-Podcast 718.

Solitude Kicks Ass

These days I prefer solitude. Life and a daily Yoga practice have taught me that I need more time to process events in my day to day. Spending time alone is a great way to process. Most of us have a lot running through our minds. An hour a day on the mat is usually the only time where we can breath and be free of the constant mental chatter.

Smart Phones On The Mat

When it comes to modern attention deficit disorder, in this free wheeling talker, I get into teacher’s reactions to smart phones in the yoga studio. I also talk about judging a younger generation. Are millennials sitting on their yoga mats finishing up the day’s emails and texts, or checking their social media feeds really all the ails the world?

No Place Better For ADHD Than The Yoga Studio

In conclusion, I think hyperactive people perceive life differently. Rather than some kind of condition to be ‘treated’, what if ADHD isn’t some kind of mutation to allow us to better use fantastic new technology. One of the cool things about being hyperactive is, we also have a great capacity for exercise.

I can’t think of a better place to enjoy being hyperactive than the yoga studio.
