These days things are happening fast and furious. Every now and then I have to take a breath and review some of my past podcasts. Moreover there’s no better way to do a review podcast, than a late night walk and talk. Check it out in Post Eclipse Radio-Bob Davis Podcast 849.

Answering Critics

In addition some of the most recent podcasts have turned out to be controversial. This is a good time to answer my critics and make some additional points.

Post Eclipse Radio

We’re coming off two huge eclipses. A solar eclipse at the beginning of July, and just recently a full moon lunar eclipse. Especially relevant are my observations about eclipse energy.

Pledge Podcast Aftermath

First of all in the last week I did two podcasts that have turned out to be controversial. My podcast covering an emotional demonstration against the Saint Louis Park City Council’s decision to stop saying the pledge of allegiance at some of their meetings, can be found here. And a podcast about Trump’s chances for reelection based on the 2016 and 2018 vote totals in battleground states, here.

Facts Are Controversial

One of the points in my coverage of this protest is most of the protesters screaming and shouting “resign!” at the council meeting to discuss the pledge decision, were not residents of Saint Louis Park. Apparently pointing out that fact was controversial.

Why Don’t You Criticize Democrats!

Bought and Paid For Media

Finally because there are no rules or planning for a walk and talk podcast, reviews of recent podcasts evolved into a discussion of bias. It sure seems like we’re living in a world these days where every single ‘news’ source or pundit has been bought. This has contributed to a loss of principles and integrity in our discourse.

Independent Voices

Consequently we all have to be careful with sources. Rather than repeat what someone else said, independent voices move the story forward by researching that facts and sharing them. People don’t seem to be able to do that anymore. This is one of the reasons my recent podcast explored actual vote totals in battleground states the president has to win again in 2020, if he is to have any chance to win reelection, let alone win by a landslide, as some have foolishly predicted.

Clearing The Air and Bias

In conclusion I love these walk and talk podcasts. They help me clear the air. Then I can move on to the next few podcasts. Walk and Talk podcasts also help me to identify my own biases, which usually run to distrust for government in general not against or for political parties or candidates or issue advocacy.

Living Dangerously

Personally I think we need to move beyond responding to flashpoint issues. That means some of us are going to have to listen to opinions we might not agree with as we develop new principles that lead to working policy. I’ve always lived dangerously by talking about things just before they go viral. These days I think that’s a real good place to be.

Summer Walk and Talk. The rules of the Walk and Talk Podcast are: No prep. No Planning. You walk. You Talk. Slash and Burn, Walk and Talk. At the peak of the summer it still doesn’t feel right to get down and dirty on the political front. There’s still a sense that the topography of the political battlefield will change at some point, and it will be back to the drawing board for the scores of presidential candidates, who are as plentiful as the corn growing in those Iowa fields. Besides, there’s Sturgis, air shows, local summer celebrations, fireworks, kids playing on the lawn, charcoal fires for steak and so…much…summer. Yet, if you look carefully, the sun has changed its angle slightly and in Minnesota at least, we’re just a month away from the State Fair. Every year, at some point during the state fair, the weather changes and we all know what that means. Fall is coming. So if you’re tweeting and face booking about one of the presidential candidates, watching the 24 hour cable channels religiously, hanging on every word of every shouting match, you’re missing real life going on. While people engaged in the business of politics are busy … the average person in the United States couldn’t care less right now about the latest spat between Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush, or Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. Big stories of the summer? The Planned Parenthood video is a doozy. The Chinese stock market collapse (which is being called their 1929) could become the black swan story if the perfumed princes in Beijing can’t get control of things. A calamity like this in Asia would have far reaching implications economically in the US and the world, and in terms of foreign policy. Commodity prices seem to be in a long term slump, and yet some media outlets are talking about inflation. Still, all these potential game-changers are just storm clouds in the west, on a warm summer night. A little lightning on the horizon, and maybe some rain and thunder by dawn. The romance of summer supersedes all that political noise, and it’s a good thing. Seriously, who doesn’t prefer the soft hum of summer twilight to some gas bagger on a podium? Road Trip Part 1. The first leg of the do or die trip to California, USA. Don’t you hate it when you get twenty miles from home and you can’t remember whether you closed the garage door? The Mobile Podcast Command Unit rolls, from Minnesota, through Iowa, on its way to Kansas City. Observations on systems, donations from listeners, gratitude, and the ever present news media. (In a recent blog I suggested that in the wake of the missing airliner hysteria, now every time a plane crashes we will be on tenterhooks until we find out ‘what happened’. This time, ‘something’ indeed did happen!) In any case it’s nice to actually wait until the so called ‘black box’ is discovered before you speculate on ‘what happened’. We live in a time filled with a lot of promise, and then people do stuff like this. But back to the road, where the fun is. But really? continuous coverage of Bowe Bergdahl’s indictment for desertion. Apparently no one is surprised. And one more thing; This labeling people on the political right as ‘populist’ when you don’t like them has to stop. It seems like these days, all the media does is name, categorize and rank things. This trip, straight down the middle of the United States should be interesting. From Dallas, we turn left on I-40, and head for Phoenix, in search of sun and warm air. Meanwhile, it’s hard to believe this old ambulance can tool down the road at 75 miles an hour. Find out if the first crisis – mileage – is really a crisis.
