Gen Z-Millennials-Brave New World-Bob Davis Podcast 798

Recent polls show solid support for socialism by Generation Z and Millennial Americans. Especially relevant is whether today’s ‘conservatives’ have the arguments against socialism. Find out in Gen Z-Millennials-Brave New World-Bob Davis Podcast 798. (Editor’s Note: The title of this podcast was Gen Z-Millennials-Prefer Socialism-Bob Davis Podcast 798 but had to be changed to meet FaceBook’s nonsensical, arbitrary and otherwise byzantine standards for commentary and journalism they think is a political ad. Speaking of a Brave New World!)

Strong Support For New Ideas

First of All, young Americans support for single payer health insurance. They like the idea of free college. Moreover there’s also support for federal job guarantees.

Voting Democrat

Also younger adults voted for democrats 2018 which helped hand President Trump a stinging defeat.

Shock

In contrast Older Americans are shocked. Why? Learn more in Gen Z-Millennials-Brave New World-Bob Davis Podcast 798.

Socialist Definitions

First of all, start with defining socialism.

Is There An Argument In The House?

Consequently, if you’re against socialism, what are the arguments in favor of capitalism?

Party Of Thinkers Has Become The Party of Red Faced Sputtering

Conservatives used to say they were the ‘thinkers’. Certainly democrats were ’emotional’ and had ‘no plan’. These days it seems like the shoe’s on the other foot.

A Plan Beats No Plan

Even more, democrats seem to have an awful lot of ideas backed up by academics. Policy details about new ideas like the Modern Monetary Theory and Universal Basic Income, or Open Borders, are part of their plan for the future. What’s the republican plan?

GOP Failing

Republicans have failed to repeal the Affordable Care Act. The GOP has increased spending and increased the deficit after complaining about deficits during the Obama years.

Republicans who were furious at President Obama’s “I have a pen and a phone” taunt applaud President Trump for using executive power to govern. And republicans are only too happy to support this kind of executive overreach.

Lack Of Principles

As a result one wonders whether republicans anywhere have arguments against socialism beyond pointing to Venezuela’s crisis and name calling. This will not do in 2020. You can’t grow a party without principles.

Laying Down And Letting Someone Else Make The Arguments

In conclusion I have often said there’s too much advocacy media. Republicans are only too willing to lay down while someone else grandstands or calls names, plays tricks and makes their arguments for them. Sadly, republicans are obsessed with ‘messaging’ while their children and grandchildren are socialists.

Road To Character-Principle Free Politics In America-Podcast 705

These days the scolds are telling us how to live. What to do. Put down the hand held device. Give up screen time. So called conservatives especially stake out the moral high ground. Problem is there don’t seem to be any principles when it comes to politics. We’ll talk about it in Road To Character-Principle Free Politics In America-Podcast 705.

Sacrifice For The Greater Good

If we can just sacrifice for the greater good. Devote our lives to something bigger than ourselves. Become more passionate and purposeful about that purpose. Right?

The Greatest Generation

What’s more, the World War 2 generation can always be trotted out as an example of virtue. Just think how much better the world would be if those distracted millennials and super liberal generate Z people would emulate the “Greatest Generation”.

It’s The Millennials Right?

Truth is the world is changing fast. We’re at the dawn of a fast moving wall of change. Moreover demanding people act a certain way may not be the right idea. In Road To Character-Principle Free Politics In America-Podcast 705.

Principle Free Politics

Welcome to the seedy underbelly of politics. Moralists on both sides tell everyone else how to act while they ignore basic principles. Yeah sure, democrats have been doing this for years. Now republicans are becoming champions at principle free politics. Looks to me like one big mob.

Character Is Someone Else’s Problem

Get the guns and deal with due process later. A 25 cent per gallon gas tax increase. Trade protection. Spend and spend. Pile on national debt. President for life sounds like a good idea. What to do when a republican president promotes ideas directly opposed to republican ideals? Defend him. Go figure.

Principles Or Power?

In conclusion, given the fast pace of change in the world what troubles me isn’t character, it’s the lack of principle in the political party that controls all three branches of government.

In the near future the Technology Revolution will challenge us all. If all anyone wants to do is tear the old world down we’re in for a rough ride.

As far as I’m concerned there’s only one principle that matters these days. Individual Freedom.

Do republicans care about liberty anymore? Or do they just want power.

Slipping Into Summer. Hard to believe, after a long upper midwestern winter, that we are Slipping Into Summer. As the Memorial Day Weekend approaches, some thoughts about the origins of ‘Decoration Day’, Arlington National Cemetery, the Civil War, and our modern day commemoration of those who have given their lives in service to the United States. This is not a national holiday of celebration. It might be suggested it is in fact supposed to be a sober, if not somber day to reflect on the sacrifice of those who did not return home. Some people confuse Memorial Day with Veterans Day. If you’re on the radio, or in public media that is a mistake you will make once. On Veterans Day we honor all those who have served. On Memorial Day we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. With all that, it is still the beginning of summer — even though summer doesn’t start until June 21st — and for kids still in school it means a week or so of school left, depending on how many snow days may have accrued during the brutal winter. It brings back memories for this podcaster. Memories of summers that stretched out like a sea of opportunity and ended all too quickly on Labor Day. In the Upper Midwest, this time is ‘GO’ time, especially for kids, because our summers are so short and sweet. The end of May can be cold, rainy and unfriendly and quite uncomfortable if you are opening the lake cabin and putting in the dock. The end of May can also be warm, sunny and friendly, and Memorial Day kicks it off with its ad hoc parades, and BBQ’s … the first three day weekend of the summer. So people might be forgiven for not remembering some of us will be privately thinking about those they lost, who will not be able to enjoy the great spring weather, the parades and BBQ’s. Here’s to them. Sponsored by X Government Cars and Ryan Plumbing and Heating of Saint Paul. (Editor’s Note: In describing the mast of the USS Minneapolis, which is at Lake Calhoun, I confused the Cruiser, USS Minneapolis with two US Navy Submarines currently in service. The USS Minnesota is a Virginia Class Submarine, and the USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul is a Los Angeles Class submarine.)
