Human Potential-Bob Davis Podcast 821

Every now and then you see something on social media that bugs you for days. These days, for me, it often has to do with Minnesota Politics. We’ll talk about it in Human Potential-Bob Davis Podcast 821.

Rag Tag Protest In Minnesota’s 6th District

On a misty and warm April morning in Minnesota a rag tag group of protesters showed up outside Elk River High School. This was the scene of the 6th Congressional District Republican Convention.

Blaming Somalis

Especially relevant was the target of the protesters; the Somali population of the 6th District.

Emmer and Abeler Sell Outs

Moreover Congressman Tom Emmer and State Senator Jim Abeler were featured in signage as ‘sell outs’ to Somali-American and Democrat interests in the district.

Muslims Running Amok

For republicans in the 6th, a top issue are Muslims running amok. There are two large Somali populations in Minnesota. One in Minneapolis and another slightly smaller group in Saint Cloud, in the heart of the 6th district.

Fear Sharia Law

Above all these voters think Sharia Law will become the law of the land. In Human Potential-Bob Davis Podcast 821 I’ll tell you why this is never likely to happen.

Civil Rights

They cite an outreach by Emmer to former congressman and now State’s Attorney General Keith Ellison as the chief reason Emmer is a sell out. Would their remedy violate the civil rights of American Citizens? Find out in Human Potential-Bob Davis Podcast 821.

Abeler and Emmer Keep Winning

State Senator Jim Abeler is a footnote in this controversy. Republicans here complain constantly about Abeler’s performance in the state legislature, but somehow he keeps getting elected. So does Emmer.

So Do Democrats

Unfortunately for republicans it is most noteworthy that democrats won all the statewide races in last year’s election and gained control of the state house of representatives. Furthermore democrats took two districts which have been in republican hands for years, solidifying their hold on the Minneapolis suburbs.

Big Spending Republicans

Furthermore it is republicans who continue to spend while they demand lower taxes, then blame it on democrats. Finally there are two conditions necessary to unlock Human Potential and guarantee prosperity. Sound Money and Low Taxes. Neither of those are happening even though republicans control the presidency and the US Senate because both sides keep spending, taxing and borrowing.

Individual Human Potential Wasted By Politicians

I think it’s time for new political parties and new politics in this country and in Minnesota. Unfortunately given the incompetence, poor leadership and raw stupidity on the republican side, it probably won’t do much to help anyone’s individual human potential. Or capitalism.

(Editor’s Note: In addition, the centerpiece of the protest at the CD6 convention this weekend are allegations surrounding the state’s Child Care Assistance Program and Somali day care programs. A recent report on KMSP TV alleged ‘suitcases full of money’ were being sent out of MSP among other things. These allegations were investigated by the Minnesota Legislature. A report issued in March of this year found no actual evidence of a connection between terrorists and the CCAP. Here’s a link to a balanced report from MinnPost. As usual with these kinds of issues, once you start unpacking them you learn it’s easy to make charges and not so easy to prove them. Oddly similar to the Mueller report conclusions being touted by Trumpers as we speak.)

Road To Character-Principle Free Politics In America-Podcast 705

These days the scolds are telling us how to live. What to do. Put down the hand held device. Give up screen time. So called conservatives especially stake out the moral high ground. Problem is there don’t seem to be any principles when it comes to politics. We’ll talk about it in Road To Character-Principle Free Politics In America-Podcast 705.

Sacrifice For The Greater Good

If we can just sacrifice for the greater good. Devote our lives to something bigger than ourselves. Become more passionate and purposeful about that purpose. Right?

The Greatest Generation

What’s more, the World War 2 generation can always be trotted out as an example of virtue. Just think how much better the world would be if those distracted millennials and super liberal generate Z people would emulate the “Greatest Generation”.

It’s The Millennials Right?

Truth is the world is changing fast. We’re at the dawn of a fast moving wall of change. Moreover demanding people act a certain way may not be the right idea. In Road To Character-Principle Free Politics In America-Podcast 705.

Principle Free Politics

Welcome to the seedy underbelly of politics. Moralists on both sides tell everyone else how to act while they ignore basic principles. Yeah sure, democrats have been doing this for years. Now republicans are becoming champions at principle free politics. Looks to me like one big mob.

Character Is Someone Else’s Problem

Get the guns and deal with due process later. A 25 cent per gallon gas tax increase. Trade protection. Spend and spend. Pile on national debt. President for life sounds like a good idea. What to do when a republican president promotes ideas directly opposed to republican ideals? Defend him. Go figure.

Principles Or Power?

In conclusion, given the fast pace of change in the world what troubles me isn’t character, it’s the lack of principle in the political party that controls all three branches of government.

In the near future the Technology Revolution will challenge us all. If all anyone wants to do is tear the old world down we’re in for a rough ride.

As far as I’m concerned there’s only one principle that matters these days. Individual Freedom.

Do republicans care about liberty anymore? Or do they just want power.

Podcast 537-Bob Davis Podcasts Radio Show-39

Podcast 537-Bob Davis Podcasts Radio Show-39. This week’s radio show contains 3 segments of new content for radio listeners and podcast subscribers. While the mission of the radio show is to bring content from the podcasts back to the radio, the political situation this week requires some additional thinking and reworking some of the ideas in Podcast 536. Podcast 537-Bob Davis Podcasts Radio Show-39 takes a look at what’s wrong with our political party system and makes some policy suggestions on the economy as thought starters for listeners and subscribers. These aren’t so much policy advocacy as a method to provoke thought and conversation around the idea that we have to do better. We have to hold our politicians and the political system to a higher standard, because we deserve better. As we progress to the final stages of the worst presidential election cycle in one hundred years the realization comes that no matter who takes the oath of office in January of 2017 the chances anything will change are remote. In fact, our national situation will either muddle along the same lines, or chaos will ensue. Your guess is as good as anyone else’s when it comes to which mainline candidate will produce muddle, or chaos. I’m not even sure which of both negative outcomes I would prefer, if such a thing is something you contemplate. Later in the show, questions about our national political themes. What happened to the America that was strong, not afraid to compete in the world, not afraid of the world, and ready to take risks to achieve. How did we become a nation of depressed, conspiracy theory mavens and people demanding someone ‘help’, ready to attack anyone for their view if it is contrary to their own? What happened to our money? What happened to our leadership? I believe what happened was too much government, expected to do too much, with mediocre ‘leaders’ who go along to get along, so they can keep their cushy jobs. We have to take it back. Taking it back means creating a new political movement in this country that pushes past the crust of the political party and primary systems, designed to keep the establishment in control. They tax us, divide us, scare us and control us, all to the purpose of making sure we’re good boys and girls. Remember, the people are the sovereign in this country, not Washington.
