Reaching The Limits Of Government Power

First of all this is a developing story. Even so, seems like people of all political stripes have about had it with the government. We’ll talk about it in Reaching-Limits-Of-Government-Power-Bob Davis Podcast 930.

Developing Story

Especially relevant? We don’t know all the details in the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police.

Unprecedented Reaction

Even more riots are breaking out in the vicinity of the incident and across the metro. This has never happened before in Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

What’s The Pattern?

I see a pattern here. However I’m not sure others will appreciate it.

Feeling Our Fellow Citizens’ Pain

Above all some also will not appreciate the pain of the community where George Lloyd died recently.

Lock Down Protests

On the other hand protests against lock downs are still fresh, although these were orderly by comparison.

Tyranny?

In Minnesota residents of communities far from Minneapolis took to the streets to protest what they called tyranny.

Trump’s Rule By Fiat

Finally the president of the United States issued yet another executive order limiting 1st amendment rights for the big social media companies. Learn more in Reaching-Limits-Of-Government-Power-Bob Davis Podcast 930.

All In One Basket

Most importantly some will not agree with me putting all government over reach into one basket. But I think it works for this podcast. Whether it’s police, presidents, governors or mayors, people have about had it.

Incompetency, Arrogance and Danger Of Government Abuse Of Power

To clarify, I do it to draw attention to the increasing incompetency and arrogance of all our governments. It’s certainly been a theme in these podcasts.

No One Likes It

In conclusion, we’re all suffering.

No one likes shut downs.

We all feel it when any citizens are mistreated.

Self Inflicted Economic Catastrophe

Further, the whole country is suffering from a self inflicted economic catastrophe.

Riot and Carrying AR-15’s

In addition we can argue about whether people should riot, or carry AR-15’s to a protest at the capitol.

What’s undeniable? Apparently a lot of people are furious at the government. They’ve definitely got their reasons.

Word to the Wise

Certainly so called elected representatives and public servants better figure it out. And soon.

Road To Character-Principle Free Politics In America-Podcast 705

These days the scolds are telling us how to live. What to do. Put down the hand held device. Give up screen time. So called conservatives especially stake out the moral high ground. Problem is there don’t seem to be any principles when it comes to politics. We’ll talk about it in Road To Character-Principle Free Politics In America-Podcast 705.

Sacrifice For The Greater Good

If we can just sacrifice for the greater good. Devote our lives to something bigger than ourselves. Become more passionate and purposeful about that purpose. Right?

The Greatest Generation

What’s more, the World War 2 generation can always be trotted out as an example of virtue. Just think how much better the world would be if those distracted millennials and super liberal generate Z people would emulate the “Greatest Generation”.

It’s The Millennials Right?

Truth is the world is changing fast. We’re at the dawn of a fast moving wall of change. Moreover demanding people act a certain way may not be the right idea. In Road To Character-Principle Free Politics In America-Podcast 705.

Principle Free Politics

Welcome to the seedy underbelly of politics. Moralists on both sides tell everyone else how to act while they ignore basic principles. Yeah sure, democrats have been doing this for years. Now republicans are becoming champions at principle free politics. Looks to me like one big mob.

Character Is Someone Else’s Problem

Get the guns and deal with due process later. A 25 cent per gallon gas tax increase. Trade protection. Spend and spend. Pile on national debt. President for life sounds like a good idea. What to do when a republican president promotes ideas directly opposed to republican ideals? Defend him. Go figure.

Principles Or Power?

In conclusion, given the fast pace of change in the world what troubles me isn’t character, it’s the lack of principle in the political party that controls all three branches of government.

In the near future the Technology Revolution will challenge us all. If all anyone wants to do is tear the old world down we’re in for a rough ride.

As far as I’m concerned there’s only one principle that matters these days. Individual Freedom.

Do republicans care about liberty anymore? Or do they just want power.

Podcast 553-AgoraFest’s Nik Ludwig

Podcast 553-AgoraFest’s Nik Ludwig. ‘Agorism’ or being an ‘Agorist’ has been defined a few different ways. Samuel Edward Konkin III says Agorism is simply “thought and action consistent with freedom’. Konkin also says Agorism is an “ideology…but it is also a scientific and definitely materialist way of thinking”, as opposed to say, a religious system of thought. AgoraFest celebrates Market Anarchy. It is not for the faint of heart, but if you have a weekend and you enjoy camping, listening to music, eating, consuming your choice of beverage be it coffee or beer, and endless substantive conversation, then you’ll enjoy AgoraFest. At last year’s AgoraFest – my first – I sat down with founder Nik Ludwig for a free wheeling conversation about the event and Agorist ‘way of thinking’. This year I continue the tradition. For last year’s conversation, check out  Podcast 416. This year we delve a little deeper into the concept of what real liberty is, with little reverence to the things mainstream ‘liberty’ advocates hold dear, like the US Constitution, American Exceptionalism, and a system of government sometimes reverently referred to as a ‘Representative Republic’. Joined by a phalanx of ‘AgoraFesters’, Nik shreds virtually all the preconceived notions of what most people on the right, even and especially the far right, think they are fighting for, and yes, even the Libertarians take their share of criticism. This is why AgoraFest isn’t for the faint of heart. Agorists don’t shred these notions because they’re advocating for their point of view. In fact, they’re more likely to disagree with you just because you agree with them (my kind of people, by the way). The whole point is open minds, the joy of discussions about any topic under the sun as long as it isn’t what they call ‘political violence’; the same old crap you hear on CNN and Fox News about the two party’s mainline candidates this year. You’re likely to sit down to breakfast and before you’ve had your coffee someone will ask you whether you think it is possible for a person to legally sell themselves into slavery, and in the next breath start talking about longevity drugs or fusion reaction. I can tell you one thing; Not one person brought up the Vikings, the Republican Party, whether they’d pulled the dock in yet for winter, or when the deer hunting trip is scheduled for this fall. Everyone was full on engaged in substance; even the question of whether Angelina Jolie was more beautiful than Jennifer Anniston, because value is subjective. So next year I’d love to see you at AgoraFest. Thanks to Nick and Steve and everyone else for making it a great weekend. Sponsored by Hydrus Performance.
