ADHD-Solitude-Technology-Yoga Therapy In Modern World-Podcast 718

Facebook. Twitter. Snap Chat. Social gatherings. These days it seems like we’re around people all the time. Suddenly solitude has become a ‘thing’. We’ll talk it in ADHD-Solitude-Technology-Yoga Therapy In Modern World-Podcast 718

ADHD Is The Culprit?

Moreover I’m starting to hear a lot of talk about Attention Deficit Disorder. ADHD is the culprit in almost every analysis of what’s wrong with the world. To be sure there are places where smartphones aren’t kosher. On the other hand maybe we can put the judgments on hold.

Yoga Eases The Pressure Of Modern Life

Most noteworthy is Yoga’s role in easing the pressures of modern life. I call these podcasts ‘Always A Student‘ because I am not a teacher. Naming my yoga podcasts this way also keeps me humble. They are designed to share my life experience as well as my experiences as a yoga student. Learn more in ADHD-Solitude-Technology-Yoga Therapy In Modern World-Podcast 718.

Solitude Kicks Ass

These days I prefer solitude. Life and a daily Yoga practice have taught me that I need more time to process events in my day to day. Spending time alone is a great way to process. Most of us have a lot running through our minds. An hour a day on the mat is usually the only time where we can breath and be free of the constant mental chatter.

Smart Phones On The Mat

When it comes to modern attention deficit disorder, in this free wheeling talker, I get into teacher’s reactions to smart phones in the yoga studio. I also talk about judging a younger generation. Are millennials sitting on their yoga mats finishing up the day’s emails and texts, or checking their social media feeds really all the ails the world?

No Place Better For ADHD Than The Yoga Studio

In conclusion, I think hyperactive people perceive life differently. Rather than some kind of condition to be ‘treated’, what if ADHD isn’t some kind of mutation to allow us to better use fantastic new technology. One of the cool things about being hyperactive is, we also have a great capacity for exercise.

I can’t think of a better place to enjoy being hyperactive than the yoga studio.

Mens Yoga Classes-Body Transformations-Yoga For Men-Always A Student-Podcast 694

Yoga studios are now marketing to men. Special deals and offers abound, in an effort to get more men to practice. There are many misconceptions about yoga by men. We’ll talk about some of them in Mens Yoga Classes-Body Transformations-Yoga For Men-Always A Student-Podcast 694.

Yoga For Men Is Always Good

I’ve practiced yoga in hot rooms for many years so you can imagine my surprise recently when a man told me this was unhealthy. Moreover, he went on, exercise in any kind of heat is ‘stupid’. I had to laugh because after almost twenty years and a lot of hot yoga I am still alive! In addition, I’ve talked a lot about yoga in hot rooms in some of my yoga podcasts.

Where Are The Men?

These days there’s quite a controversy in the yoga world about the origins of Yoga and men. Some say the discipline was the province of only men until recently. Go to any yoga studio in the United States and you’ll usually find more women than men. What happened? In Mens Yoga Classes-Body Transformations-Yoga For Men-Always A Student-Podcast 694.

Body Transformations

Especially relevant is the body transformation mentality. Guys want to be rough and tough. We want to build muscles. Lifting weights seems to be where most of us start because we think yoga would never build muscles fast enough. My experience has been that a daily yoga practice is the single best thing I can do for my own well being. Especially as I get older. What’s more, most of the CrossFit guys I know fully support yoga as a training option.

Yoga For Men Is Intense

Furthermore men and women have different kinds of energy. Certain practices can be just as intense and competitive as anything else men do for exercise but there’s so much more to yoga. It’s a community. The practice also results in a mental as well as physical transformation.

Always A Student

Many guys I know in great shape use yoga to cross train or just to relax. As someone who has always been an experiential learner I never stopped to ask whether yoga is ‘for’ men or women. For me, it was more about what yoga did for me rather than what all the so called experts say it does. Once I started there was no turning back. Find out why in Mens Yoga Classes-Body Transformations-Yoga For Men-Always A Student-Podcast 694.

Goodbye To 2017-Hello 2018-Happy New Year-Podcast 690

As the year closes time for a look back at 2017. Some of the experiences, helpers, clients and some big thank you’s. Any look back also includes a look ahead. In Goodbye To 2017-Hello 2018-Happy New Year-Podcast 690.

Fast Changing World

The theme of 2017 for almost everyone seems to be fear and anxiety in a fast changing world. Boy is it changing fast. Biggest change in 2017? Our politics. Still, there was a lot of great travel and fun this year.

These days things change so fast. One story that is still with us? The so called Russian Hack and the Russian Collusion story. The media is still trying to predict the future, getting stories wrong or advocating for a point of view. It’s a theme of the podcasts this year and we’ll talk about it in Goodbye To 2017-Hello 2018-Happy New Year-Podcast 690.

The Truth Is On The Back Roads

With all the talk about political civil war and surreal protests this year, travel on the backroads of this country convinces me the real America is significantly different from the America we hear about in the media in general. There were some great trips this year. Sturgis, the Air Show, a crumbling home town and more. Too bad Burning Man didn’t happen for the Bob Davis Podcasts in 2017. Maybe next year. In Goodbye To 2017-Hello 2018-Happy New Year-Podcast 690.

We Don’t Need No Stinking Principles

Political fighting was all the rage this year. Especially relevant is the fact that most of the partisan bickering was free of principles. This was a year in which both mainline political parties seemed to have forgotten what they stand for. Good thing I can talk about small business and the role of the podcaster helping people in business.

Opening Up

This was also a year in which I started a podcast specific to Yoga, which has really enhanced my life in these crazy times. I’ve experienced some big personal losses this year. Between yoga and travel podcasts, it became clear to me there is a whole world out there which doesn’t turn on political develops in Washington. Thank God. In Goodbye To 2017-Hello 2018-Happy New Year-Podcast 690.

Thanks To Everyone

Whether its analysis, business, yoga, travel, storm chasing and the eclipse it’s been a big year for me. There have also been a number of great local stories to cover as well. Thanks to the clients, contributors, subscribers and listeners who make podcasting a great medium and help The Bob Davis Podcasts everyday.

Happy New Year!
